The Shack Movie Event

The Shack Movie Event

The Nurture Committee of Northview United Methodist Church would like to invite you to a special event at the Family Life Center on Saturday, August 26, at 2:00 PM. We will be showing the film THE SHACK. This will be a community-wide event and has been advertised publicly.

If you have read the book, you need to see this film. If you have not read the book, perhaps you will after seeing the film. If you have read the book and have seen the film, you still need to see this film once again. Based on one of the Top 100 best-selling books of all time with over 22 million in print worldwide, THE SHACK takes us on a father’s life-transforming journey that will show him the ultimate truth about love, loss and forgiveness.

Following the feature presentation, there will be a showing of the first episode of “Restoring the Shack”, a weekly series by the William Paul Young, author of The Shack. This episode is called “An Invitation”. A weekly group discussion viewing these episodes will be held this fall at Northview United Methodist Church (schedule still under discussion). This series will delve deeply into issues presented in the movie and the book. You will learn about the author’s reasons for writing the book, about his “great sadnesses” (yes, plural), and the healing journey that he has taken that lead to his writing the book as a story for his children. Discussions include The Trinity, Relationships with The Trinity, handling grief and loss, God urges (we know them as coincidences), our image of God the Father, forgiveness and reconciliation, and more.
